I have a 601 Seaboard switcher here that I am trying to fix some cracks in the shell. It doesn't appear that Testors liquid glue is working here. Are these, and post war 6464 car bodies bakelite? If so, what can be used to glue them?
Offset the crack if you can and apply a good liquid plastic cement to the inner edges. Put the edges back together and let it sit overnight. You have to work fairly quickly, as many of these glues dry very fast. If you can't open the crack to apply glue to the edges, apply the glue to the back of the crack and let capillary action pull the glue into the crack. Sand and polish the plastic after the glue has set to hide any damage.
