Hi, For forum members living in south florida. I have a mth train that needs to be fixed. Ready to Roll is too far. Does anyone know of someone or a store in palm beach or broward counties? Thanks

The train stores that are left in broward don't do repairs as far as I know. The Depot Hobby shop in Lantana(if it's still open- have not gone there in a couple of years) only did PW Lionel-- Ready to Roll will be your best bet to get it fixed--
Nick, you're fighting a losing battle if it's an electronic issue , as I assume it is because you're on this forum. You need a MTH tech, not an LHS. Most LHS's don't have a qualified tech, but will ship it out. You might as well ship it to one of the forumites who is a tech, or to MTH after calling them, and cut out the middleman/middlewoman, because either way you'll pay shipping.
Yes RJR, I am. I would like someone closer to me than Ready to Roll. But if I have to, I will take it down there. If you know someone who is nearer to me that is a MTH tech, please post.
Nick, I'm up here in northern Virginia and don't know any techs in Florida who do work. If I had an electronics problem and couldn't fix it myself, I'd call MTH to get an ok to ship it to them for repairs, or I'd contact a tech like GGG or Marty Fitzhenry (both of whom I met in person at York) or Gunrunnerjohn (who I've never met). Or I might just buy an upgrade kit or just a board and replace the whole board, which saves much of the shipping cost and all of the labor.
I wouldn't bother with any LHS unless I knew, from other sources, that they had a MTH-qualified and -trained tech. I wonder if MTH has a list of qualified techs whom they have trained.
RJR, thank you for the advice. I don't like to ship things because I've had problems in the past. So that is why I wanted someone closer to home. Fortunately your close to GGG. I'd trust him with my train but I don't know what will happen during shipping and I might have a more major problem than when I started. Anyway, thanks all for your replies. Nickstrains
Actually, GGG is about 200 miles away, so I'd have to ship to him anyway.
Sorry, misread. I was surprised to hear that you would buy an upgrade kit and replace boards. But that's just me.
