Amongst the abandoned projects I started out in 3RO with, was this 1960s Rivarossi Casey Jones 4-6-0. It seemed to turn, but failed on the club test track, but I had no immediate use for it so I put it aside until I had more time.

Ive just stripped the wheelset and chassis. The wheels and axles seem straight, the little bronze “spring” on the centre axle needed re-shaping... the chassis seems slightly out of square, though. Not much, but it does have a bit of a “limp”.

However it runs nicely otherwise, so I’ve put it aside again. Perhaps I’ll give it some running in time on the rolling road.

I had a couple of those and the 0-8-0s when they first came out.  I had hours of fidgeting with them and they were never good runners...the plastic just doesn't last.  I recall a couple guys used abondoned All Nation 10 wheeler mechaisms and frames...which are still around in great numbers.  But the top side detail is fragile too.  Good luck.
