Hi,

After marking up and painting the roads and roadbed, I was finally able to run some trains.  Next up will be working on that mountain with cardboard strips this weekend, since it will be another hot one here.  I am also thinking about doing up a mock-up on paper for a cape cod house to see what I can put around it and how much space will it take up, before actually painting driveways or front walks.  When I did my pre-war layout I created scenic plots based on the 1930's, so I did not have to paint individual sidewalks on the layout and I could change things around if I want to.

A question about the trolley, are they supposed to slam into the bumper real hard, even at a slow speed?

Kevin, your trolley has to hit the bumper hard enough to make it change directions.  I doubt by going too slow that it will hit the bumper hard enough to reverse directions.  You can put your hand down so it hits it to see how hard it may have to hit the bumper to reverse, probably a little faster than you would like but this is the way it works.  A neat old Lionel accessory.  I like the looks of it, nothing better than Plasticville, it reminds me of my late 50's era layout (long gone but not forgotten).
