I'm (actually my wife and I) finally getting to the point of building my train layout after years of supporting the kids and family hobbies and interests (no frustration here).  I've been a collector for a long time, just never was able to get going in the operating side other than the yearly Christmas tree setup.  So, I've decided I'm going with MTH scaletrax and I have a quick question regarding switches.  I've read over the years where the scaletrax switches have had certain operating problems (shorts, cars derailing, etc.).  I'm assuming that MTH has made modifications to the switches over the years to correct some of these problems.  My question is... Is there a way to identify an earlier version of a switch track from a later version?  Is there something on the packaging that might identify a newer version?  I would hate to unknowingly buy an older version of a switch track with a set of problems that would have been corrected in a later version.

Someone will have to chime in here Paul with that information but the 'fix' is fairly simple and details can be found in several previous threads on scaletrax switches. Ted and Dave Hikel were among the first to work these out and once corrected the repair is permanent.

ScaleTrax is terrific track and hopefully MTH all add items to the line eventually.
