Ok... Deep breath...

I have purchased another TMCC-equipped H16-44 in the hopes that a shell swap from a conventional H16-44 would be plug and play. By that I mean that I would unplug the wiring from the conventional frame and just plug it into the TMCC-equipped chassis and I would have two TMCC-equipped H16-44 with different road numbers.

EXCEPT, that the light boards and connectors are different.

Has anyone done this swap and is there a relatively easy way to do this other than dissassemble the shells and remove the lights and LEDs? Can I unplug the wires from the connector bodies and just swap the connectors? There are 2 red and 2 black wires on the TMCC shell, and 2 purple, 1 red and 1 black on the conventional shell...

Is there anyone out there that has done this swap, and would be willing to do this if I send you the shells?

I also have a dummy GP7 and Legacy GP7 that I want to do the same thing with...

Please let me know...

Thanks.

Ok, I can't be the only guy to have tried this...

There are four wires going to the conventional shell... 2 purple, 1 red and 1 black.

Does anyone know what they are?

Can I swap the connectors and have the lights be directionally controlled on the shells or do I have to swap the circuit boards.

Anyone have hints for swapping the boards?

Thanks,

Mario

Mario, Apparently so! LOL I recommend swapping boards. Unless you drive your project to Canfield the next time your on a sales call in NE Ohio! Seriously, best to keep the original PCB's together unless you fully understand the pinouts and the how the lighting PCB was designed to work! See you before Christmas? Mike

Thanks, Mike!  Probably not going to make it out before Christmas, but there are some rumblings of some things just past first of the year, so it may be soon.

I upgraded a conventional H16-44 to tmcc and I used the original ligthing board. If I remember correctly, Red is AC hot and black is AC ground. the two purple are front and rear headlights and they are directional. I will look this weekend and let you know.

Thanks, Bill... Can't wait to figure this one out. If you could help with the arrangement for the original shell, so that I can swap the shells back on the conventional, as well and sell them to try and recoup some of my hard-earned cash-a-rooney.

THANKS!

PS - Have a great Thanksgiving!  I have the small set around the Christmas tree already... All vintage / retro with tubular track, Marx #333, Marx Milk Reefer and 1978 Cities Service tank car.
