As addictions go this train buying is pretty tame stuff The whole train thing is really pretty wonderful and we should enjoy the heck out of it (and what has been created on this forum) My guess is some of us came from childhoods of want, now we can have what we could not have as kids. Maybe we spend more than we should The trains probably bring back memories,in a myriad of ways I do spend a bit but life is short and meant to be lived and I refuse to over analyze what is a wonderful and deep hobby Happy holidays to all

Perhaps some of us are too introspective ,or we have let the current culture lead us to believe anything like collecting trains is too selfish for the greater good. From where I sit I do not see any awards being given out for those who avoid buying trains. At the end we won't hear" Doesn't he look like he's sleeping,AND, he stopped buying trains." A famous quote that is one of my favorites, "If you like it, leave it, if you love it, buy it" . I also think if you have to sneak around buying so your wife doesn't know about it you likely have more problems than a supposed addiction to trains. Fred

I grew up very poor but mom and dad did the very best they could and to be honest I didn't know we were poor. My dad worked hard but just never seemed to get ahead, he also would never take a dime from the govt. or anybody else. I sure admire him for that.  We had trains but they were Marx, and lower end Lionel but my brother and I sure had fun.

Spring  ahead 60 years and today I make no excuses for the trains I buy. I worked hard all my life and now is the time to enjoy them. Thank you mom and dad.
