Take an old tin can and add a few tin parts.

Old Bub baseplate, mostly from buffer stops

A railing from a Bing bridge

A Bub signal mast and support from a Bub barrier.

And finish as Bub elevated station.

I took a Lionel 259E Tender and converted it to a Hoods Milk car, I just added a sliding door and a top vent. It runs behind my baggage car in my custom painted 259 set. 

Hmmm... I've probably got a few older projects that fall in to this category... but here is the first to come to mind.  The basis of the project was some old, rusty, bent-up Marx articulated passenger cars that converted into a Marx-inspired windup powered Zephyr:

I found Lionel 610 Passenger Cars and made them into replicas of Lionel Diners.

Some really inspirational modeling here! The only thing I've done lately is swapping out the clockwork motor (using the powered truck of an otherwise broken gandy-dancer car) in a chrome Schylling Rail Zeppelin. I am now tempted to use the clockwork motor to create a 'Toonerville Trolley'.

Hello All, everything that was posted is a inspiration to all of us. Lots of good idea on what to so with old items or broken piece laying around. I am working on two 248 electric locos and painted them ion the lionel colors Orange/Blue. These were junk pieces that I pick up a frame then the shells and motors. Will post pictures of the painted shells later.
