Picked up two MTH/Lionel lamp post at a train show.

One was complete and the other is missing the top part of the lamp.

I did not want to throw this broken lamp post out, so I decided to use the base for a flagpole.

I had an old flag (44 star?) and a brass tube, treaded brass standoff, pully and model boat brass cleat and a little string. The brass ball has an 8-32 threaded hole and is perfect for the top.

The treaded brass stud and the brass tube are glued in place with JB weld.

The pully and the cleat are screwed in with 0-80 screws (the holes were tapped and treaded).

Painted it green put back the electrical connectors (not hooked up to anything).

Flag can be lowered or raised to be flown at full or half-mast.

If you have something that is broke or incomplete, use it to your advantage and let your creativity flow.

Hello All, everything that was posted is a inspiration to all of us. Lots of good idea on what to so with old items or broken piece laying around. I am working on two 248 electric locos and painted them ion the lionel colors Orange/Blue. These were junk pieces that I pick up a frame then the shells and motors. Will post pictures of the painted shells later.
