They both work if done right. Your choice I would say.
I tend to solder everything. Buss wires and feeders. As long as they aren't close to any other wires. I just leave them as is as long as there's no chance they can contact another wire that would cause a short.
Butt connectors are fine if you have good visual and manual access to the joint and you can clamp relieve wire tension.
However in my world, butt connections are usually due to a short measurement and I need to lengthen a wire run in an out of the way location, I would always solder. I would rather depend on a shrink wrapped solder connection than a crimped butt connection. Opinion
