Believe it or not we had the warehouse doors open and were working in tee-shirts the other day in South Central Wisconsin. I was in the loft digging out some of my favorite freight cars to run in this weekend's Schaumber show with the Independent Mid-West Hi-Rail group. I am a newbie there, but they are friendly, funny and knowledgeable group. The best model railroaders that I have met in a long time.
So comes the dawn this AM in Madison, WI, bringing with it stinging wind and snow. No worries, we can manage this. Afterall, we are Wisconsinites. But an unexpected delay from an account wanting service from the family business. OK, the customer is always right.
Now it is noon and blowing snow and nary a snowplow in sight. Windchill pretty darn cold.
On to Schaumberg! After the fifth car in the ditch and frantic phone calls from loved ones suggesting I need mental help for driving a GMC van in a winter storm watch, I turn back, headed west on 90.
White knuckle driving home.
I barely got the van up the hill to my house.
Snow, snow, go away. Come again some other day!
I waited since TrainFest in Milwaukee to have fun with this group and see some new things in Schaumberg and here I am getting ready to snowblow for the third time today.
Sun, please come out tomorrow.
