I'm going with the 4004. The one on display in Holiday Park Cheyenne Wyoming.

I'm buying all eight!

I am with you Al
If the 4014 makes it to the high iron once again, it will most likely be oil fired. So that makes all the high tech tender nonsense all wrong if you plan on using it as a current day fan trip engine.
Thoughts on this?

Well, they (Lionel) could offer an Oil Tender on the market to appeal to ones concerned on being modern prototypical I suppose.
I won't be getting one because I bought a NIB Vision Line Challenger last week. And, I still want a Lionel H7. But, if I were, I would want #4006. It was the first 'big' purchase engine I bought from '99 and I have a soft spot for it!
I don't care, any one will suit me.
2005 one in Denver - Yes I know that is the one that crashed.
Dave & Al,
I assume you guys are joking about buying all eight, right?
4014
If they are identical then 4014. If they offer as built and later versions, in service, I'll get the later.
4014... Waiting on those to chime in that they aren't getting one Because of blah blah blah And ignoring the OPs question.
Personally I would prefer the 4015, as she was the last revenue run of a 400o class on Union Pacific.
placed my order with a store for the 4014.
4018 - Frisco

Did i say eight? Must have been a senior moment. 4012 for me.
It'll be 4018 if I can get over my "fear of commitment"...
I've been visiting 4018 most of my life. A very special engine for me.
4018 - Frisco is just up the road from Trainville!

I'm only getting one, 4014. I already have 4023 and the VL challenger
Probably 4004 or 4018, or even 4012. I haven't decided yet. I need to look at my locomotive hit list and see what road numbers of other Big Boys aren't on it. There are 6 on the list, and I only have one of them so far. Yes, the Bog Boy is my favorite locomotive, and I plan on having many of them...
I already have the 4014 and since I got its whistle fixed I see no reason to get rid of it. I ordered the 4004 since my neighbor Jim ordered the 4005
I just placed pre-order for #4014.
4012, it's the only one I've seen in person.
I have had the plesure of crawling all over the 4014, so it will be my choise,

Ditto.

Why do you say that? There are some of us that love Big Boys and are looking forward to getting one of these, even if others think we are fools to do so.
Unnumbered pilot model?
I just placed pre-order for #4014.
Bob, I'm curious where did you place your pre-order with?

I placed my order with Charlie Ro.

4012
Its the only one my son and I have ever seen.
I already ordered #4004 and #4014, and my LHS did not call me a fool!
With Lionel offering weathering now, I wonder if these will be available with optional weathering? I would order mine weathered if available. A clean articulated looks wrong.
With my recent attention focused on Standard Gauge, I'm currently watching O-Gauge from the sideline. So I think my Big Boy will be #0000.
David
I would need to sell my Williams Big Boy plus several other engines in order to purchase the new Lionel Big Boy. That isn't going to happen.
I can hardly wait to see someone else running this Big Boy with a long train on a large layout. I don't care what number it is. I am sure it will be awesome.

Because to me it is a joke. Doesn't mean other folks are not allowed to take it seriously.
Pete
I think the original question is which road number you are getting.
Just so we stay on subject... but then again it is the OGR forum.

What was the subject again?
