I am currently in the process of building a portable Halloween layout, and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions regarding what type of foam I should use. On my permanent layout, I primarily use foam board insulation (the type available at home depot), but was wondering if there were any other alternatives. I plan on using the foam insulation boards as my base, but was thinking of using something lighter/thinner for elevation and platforms (the layout is only going to be 12"x72" and needs to be portable and lightweight, so I want to avoid the "bulkier" foam). In the past I have used regular foam sheets, but in my experience, it tends to crumble easily and does not handle paint well. Ideally the foam would be light-weight, thin, smooth, and handle paint well. Appreciate any comments or feedback.
