More add on's for the Polar Express(your going hog wild on the O scale side, need some more for the S scale version!)

and I agree on a fast track grade crossing with working flashers, along with more scale signals and such.  

Lionel has the chance to really reinvigorate the whole AF line if they choose to.  Take American Flyer where AC Gilbert might have if the company had survived and prospered the way Lionel has.   Despite a high price, I am betting that legacy berks would sell.  Or meet the demand half way.  upgrade the details to road specific on the Flyerchief berks.  NKP with flashing Mars light and correct whistle sounds ect.  If they can do the mods to the Polar version, that means the tooling is modular and able to be changed around.  Like NKP with Mars and C&O with lowered headlight.

FWIW, if any S gauge Thomas is to have FC sparky stuff, and be well proportioned and not grossly out of scale, the present board from the docksider will not fit unless the mechanical "chuff" like I put in mine is removed.  Even then, it will have to be a completely new design.  There's not a lot of room in the boiler.  Here's my take on it, from bare frame to finished product.  I used a docksider frame and SEVERELY modified it, as you can see.  Even the motor mount had to be ground down to fit.  Is there an HO sized FC board?

 

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but I can't help commenting on a scaled Thomas, even though it's a "fantasy" item.

I too would like Thomas, but unfortunately, if Thomas is a money-maker, I only see them reinvesting in more Thomas stuff; leaving us even farther behind.

I will add that I would like to see some buildings to go with the Polar Express set!   Thats the only reason I haven't wanted to do anything with my set, lack of ready made buildings to set the scene.  I have never seen anything done in the ceramic buildings like have been done for other Christmas shows like "A Christmas Story" (got those!).   Mike

A battery powered, wireless radio controlled scalifiable (is there such a word?) diesel like a GP38-2 or GP40 or MP15. No worries about AC, DC, DCC, track wiring, track cleaning, just have the unit come with interchangeable scale or Hi-rail wheels and choice of AF or KD couplers.

This is so SIMPLE.............N&W J engine....... Legacy of course...... and matching Coaches the next year.......

1) More realistic trucks on the freight cars, present production is too tall. 50' cars would be nice 2) SP GS4 Daylight! or the N&W 611 3) Mail pickup car--the new two-door streamline baggage cars should adapt well to this.

An EP5 with *smoke*?  The EP5 was an electric locomotive, although in the latter part of their careers some had electrical fires due to poor maintenance. 

how about re-releasing the sold old Berkshires and add road specific details?
