I have a fast track switch that switches when the engine gets on it causing derailment. Any ideas?

I don't use Fastrack so am guessing.
Try using a car like a box car so you can see underneath and determine the point where the turnout switches. If it is before the turnout look for an isolated rail that may be somehow sending a signal to the turnout switch machine.
If it is on the turnout itself you will have to look underneath the turnout for a mis-wire. Just compare to a turnout that works.
I am also not sure if the Fastrack turnouts have auto 'de-rail'. If they do perhaps the two wires to the switch machine have been accidentally crossed?

This is what I was thinking.
Did it ever work correctly, or is this a new switch? Do you have a controller connected to it? It may have a short in it.
new switch. tried another controller and still same result. I think it is wired wrong maybe.
Switch was wired correctly according to diagram. Green to straight and Blue to curve. I changed wires to Blue to straight and Green to curve and the switch is now functioning correctly. Something is definitely wired wrong somewhere, but the switch is working correctly for now.
Thanks for the link.
Glad you got it. Maybe someone grabbed the wrong color wire or worse was color blind.
Good for you Jazzman!
Thanks guys. Up and running now on to building a lift out bridge.
