@prrhorseshoecurve posted:These locomotives in the picture ARE NOT "Baby Trainmasters". A baby Trainmaster is the Tennessee Valley Authority [TVA] FM locomotive.

A baby trainmaster is like a real trainmaster but shorter in length.
the locomotives in your photo are H-16-44 road switchers, too short to be a "Baby Trainmaster"
A fascinating article chronicling preservation of a vital part of the fascinating American history of the TVA. The TVA showed what we can do as a nation when we put our minds to it.
The post with the photos of NYNJ rear cab switchers is of the display case at NJHR, containing examples of their custom runs to date. Some pretty sweet looking beer reefers!
A green locomotive from long ago for the Holidays!
@Strap Hanger - I love the tinplate! That red 256 is the Christmas present I found for myself. Just waiting for Christmas morning!
@Randy Harrison - Switcher Saturday is always open all week! I just haven't put that tidbit in the opening post for a while. Your photo makes that Coke Switcher look great!
@Mike CT - I haven't picked up one of those 44 tonners yet, but I haven't forgotten about them either. With the narrowly averted national rail strike there was recently and article that noted how the 44 ton center cab was introduced to get around union rules requiring a two man cab crew for any machine 45 tons and up. I'll be that made them rather unpopular with union leadership when they debuted!
@Putnam Division - Those machines certainly count. Road switchers are switchers too! In fact a true FM Trainmaster could count too, if actually being used in Switcher Service . After all we've had GE Dash 8's operated by Amtrak as switchers for the auto train featured here. Admittedly we generally focus on smaller machines just because they are so darn cool, cute, and interesting. Some how a machine as big as a locomotive on the scale of a swithcer just adds more character.
@Silver Lake I love that Camel! The early stges of Railroading don't get enough attention in our modeling. I really enjoyed the video as well. Seeing that Camel pull 110 of those little coal jennies must have been quite a sight. Seeing the model share space with Geeps and F- units is pretty cool too.
@DMASSO nice interior on the Alco. It really brings it it alive.
@rjsmithindy I had the opportunity to pick up that toy make set a few years ago and passed because I thought it was too gimmicky. I have regretted that decision several times.
Have a great day everybody.

Nice! You're going to love it. It's a heavy, gorgeous beast.

I've been looking for one I could afford for years - finally snagged it a couple months ago. I've wanted a dual motored machine to pull my 710 cars for ages. It will be a sight to behold.
