LUG October 2017

The video is live and ready for viewing.

Here are the pdf flyers from the LCS partners.  High Rail and eTrain.  Congratulations to Mike McCutcheon who won the drawing for a free copy of High Rail.

The questions were answered by JonZ, Rudy, Dave, and Dean from Lionel.  Unless someone asks, I won't be putting up the list of Q&As as they are all in the video.  We had an estimated 50 folks join us Friday in the Orange Hall meeting room.  I want to again thank the folks from Lionel, JonZ and Rudy from the West Coast and especially Dave Olson and Dean Brasseur for attending.  Thanks to the EDTCA folks for the use of the room.  Special thanks to Dave Slie for recording and editing the video for us.

and finally thanks to all the Legacy Users who attended and continue to support our efforts.

Without any further delay the video.

MartyE,

Thanks for posting.

I just wanted to add that during the meeting I asked what the feeling was to have Lionel produce a Legacy Users Group boxcar in either LionScale or more on the order of a 6464 Traditional size car.  I'd be interested to see what the thoughts on that would be.  Due to the cost, these would have to be paid for up front when ordered and need a minimum of 100.  As always the cost of the car would be exactly what Lionel charges me plus shipping if applicable.  I would make $0 profit.  Initial inquiries to Lionel have been made and the use of their logos and artwork at this point doesn't seem to be a problem.  I won't take any orders until we have a design.

The cost per car looks to be under $60 with either one.

Personally I'd rather have a root canal than take this on again but think it would be a cool item for the group.

I'll schedule your appointment.

Seriously though, approximate cost would be nice to have. Cost does play a part in, at least, my ordering.

I missed some of the dialog about updating the base without a black module. It sounded like using the wifi, one could update the base. Someone in the middle of the audience seemed to be explaining how that would work, but was too hard to hear and he got talked over.

Can someone explain that in detail?

Thanks for the video.

Hi Everyone,

I am the developer of eTrain Command Console Windows and Android apps.  I was looking through the question asked at the LUG meeting and I believe my software might be able to help some of you.

Q: Concerning recording Scenarios/command sequences

A: My software will let you record scenarios/command sequences up to 2,000 commands each and play them back.  It will also let you record as many scenarios/command sequences as you want.  They are saved on your hard drive or wherever you want.  There is no limit to the number of scenarios/command sequences you can have.

Q: Concerning the MTH whistle/Horn sequence button

A: Please see the above question.

Q: Concerning an Android app

A: I also have an Android app that you can use to operate engines, switches, routes, lash-ups and accessories.  In order to use this app you must have the Windows app.   This is because the Android app needs to connect to the Windows app running on your PC/laptop, which is connected to either your LCS Wi-Fi module or SER2.  Back in the day this was the only way to get a mobile device to operate your layout.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for asking the question on the LCS sensor track Marty.

It appears according to Lionel I have a isolated problem.

It only takes one faulty component for example and it can be a major issue over here. I know a few guys with Legacy on this side of the pond but nobody with LCS. So it’s quite hard to isolate a problem by swapping components.

I’ll be interested in what comes back on Albrecht’s question on the direction arrows and the track needing reprogramming.

Nick
