I've been, for awhile(for years) hesitant to make this declaration: but, for me, MTH's EMD SD70ACe - is the best O gauge(either - 3-rail or scale wheels, I've owned both) diesel-electric model... in their product line. It's in my nature to scrutinize... I'm discerning... my compliment to the chef(Mike).

 Yeah....but....we need pics!!!

I'm still waiting for a CSX version with PS3.

There are a couple other of their models that are close for me as my favorite. I like when the ACes get rolling and some kind of air let off release noise happens. I like the sounds of the GEs ever since the narrow nose version that Matt posted and how they look. I even have a Alaska geep that's cool just muddling around switching cars.

Something about the mean look of the ACe though that won me over. Love at first sight??

Thanks, Stephen. First time I've seen scale wheels Heritage units. I had a scale wheels UP ACe; now, mine are all 3-rail models.

When the Heritage units first came out... the Western Pacific got my vote. I was offered, by MTH the CSX version, when my EMD DEMO's roof melted(from the headlight). I passed on it, because I thought all the ACe's would have similar heat buildup problems. Nice units, those CSX versions.

For some reason, PS 3 sounds get buried(you can barely hear them) when they're run in a power set, outfitted with PS 2 gear; but, one of the best horns I've heard, to date, was in a PS 3 CNW Dash 9. Very nice... when it was running on it's own.

BTW, my new UP ACe has a horn that I'm liking. Almost sounds like what I've heard track-side. Some of EMD's modern units, I've heard, have horns that are extremely loud and sound a bit out of tune; my UP reminds me of that...

What kind of lighting are you using in the layout room. It looks almost like natural outdoor sunlight.

One of the reasons I got the Western Pacific version was the cab paint, it compliments the angular features(lines) of the cab. The bold orange chevrons look good, too.

For quite awhile, I debated getting the CAT version; passed though - I didn't feel like celebrating London's lose.

I haven't seen this EMD livery before:

BTW, I had two Legacy ACe's: CNW and the Rio. That Rio was a superb looking model; hated the large flanged wheels though.
