What part of NJ?  185 Sixth Ave in Paterson  or some other location?  I'm in Monmouth County.  Plenty of train guys in NJ.  You'll fit right in.

Welcome to New Jersey. I live here myself, and was planning on(when the doctors figure out what is bugging my body and I am well) contacting you about my CCII Niagra. When I get sorted, I'll message you to see what your schedule is etc., etc.

Being a care giver is a very tough job and your mom will need all the help she can get. 

Boy, some big changes going on just now. Moving and your Dad's new diagnosis rate really high on the stress index. I will put you guys on the Rosary every day from now on.

This also solves a dilemma I had about attending your open house this year. Was REALLY wanting to, but didn't think I could financially this time, what with travel from California. Next year's will be even better!!!

Alex, best wishes to you and Dina as you take on the caregiver's role.  The mid- to late-80's (and beyond) can be a tremendously humbling chapter in one's life.  And few of us -- if any -- can "prepare" for our lives changing so dramatically.  My Mom is now 88, and I see her everyday to keep a close eye on things.  I often leave my black lab Zuke with her for a couple of hours when I'm photographing -- he's the best medicine for her, better than any pills and medications.  We lost my Dad at 88 four years ago, and my parents were married almost 60 years at the time of Dad's passing.  Expect some days of very mixed emotions:  you will know you're doing the right thing taking care of family, but you'll also feel frustrated to lose the person you once remembered with vitality and exuberance. 

We're so accustomed to "seeing" our parents the way we've known them most of our lives, that it's sometimes very challenging to absorb the changes they're going through during this stage in life -- almost as if our brain isn't quite catching up to what our eyes are seeing and our ears are hearing.  So it takes some time for our eyes, ears and brain to sync up to the new landscape.  I've walked this road with both my parents hitting their 80's over the past 10+ years now, as my wife has with her parents too.  We would do it all over again in a heartbeat, as parents are an important part of who we are and an integral part of the family.  I just don't understand why some will travel a road of diminished abilities for a decade, while others are swimming laps in the swimming pool at 92.    All part of life's mysteries, I guess.  And none of us knows which road we'll be traveling at that stage in life.

Stay healthy.  Leave time for yourselves when you can.  Care-giving can be an all-consuming task at times.  So try to keep as much balance as possible in your lives.

I most certainly will plan on attending your next Open House, since Freehold is less than an hour's ride from Doylestown, PA.
