We made the paper again this morning! Many thanks to club Secretary Bob Illuci for his excellent PR work.
Here is a small clip from the article:
“This all started in 2003 when I just had a love for trains,” said Mathew Horning, a 23-year-old founder and trustee of the club. “What’s here today has been added to and added to over the last 10 years and the open houses are always the best part. … A lot of clubs put things behind plexiglass or something but we wanted to be the opposite of that.”
The Hi-Railers' layout, which stretches the entire length of the factory floor, includes several different set pieces, including a downtown, a mountain range, an industrial refinery and a waterfront luxury residential area. In addition to the zones created from the imagination of the club's 50 members, the track features to-scale replicas of Grand Central Terminal – and it's accompanying subway station, Broad Street Station in Newark and the former Ballantine Brewery building in Newark.
