The Scenery Elevator (not to be confused with a scenic elevator) is the result of watching too many first generation James Bond movies.  But it has a practical side, as it solves the pesky problem of where to put that removable scenery access hatch after you remove it.  It also entertains guests of all ages.

Thanks guys for the comments. Setting aside the whimsy, this really does serve a useful purpose: It allows ccess to both maintain hidden track and to complete the scenery..which you can see has a long way to go.  That’s a big chunk of foam, and it is set back a good 18 inches from the edge of the layout. Lifting it in and out by hand would be a real pain in the back

I am glad you posted this because it is definitely a cool AND useful item.  And I can use the idea in the two corners of my layout.

BUT, it is definitely NOT the same picture as when you stood in the spot and stared back at us on Friday night trains.

Ed King, one the old hands from Friday night trains back in my youth (almost 40 yeara ago) said it best; "John Armstrong would be proud".
