While I am sure the vendors will be the same I am looking for differences in the atmosphere and mood. In the fall I am taking in the fall colors, shorter days and weather changing to cold and rain. Any purchases I make are intended for the Christmas layout or gifts. In the spring I am think more about motorcycles and summer activities. The fall colors won't be around and I know what I buy will not get much use until later

My reasons for liking the fall meet better are the same as yours.

I like train stuff all year long, of course, but there's something about the pre-holiday season that makes these events even better and more meaningful.

From a train-only perspective I like both meets for different reasons - some of which have been echoed previously in this thread.

The April meet I always seem to find things I was looking for in October (for Christmas) but weren't available or were at price-points beyond my means.   Plus it is a welcome breath of fresh air from the long winter.

The October meet I'm looking for things either with a holiday theme or that I can buy in order for someone to give back to me as a Christmas or birthday present.

days, not day's.

As the Ambassador of the York Meet on this forum, Eddie can spell anyway he wants to.  He's old enough to spell the way he wants to and even to make up words if he wants.

I hope I can get excited about going to York when I attain his age status.

My first York was April 2012 and second was October 2013. To be honest there wasn't much difference for me personally, both shows were equally huge and amazing. If anything in October there was just a little more "buzz" in the air as the holiday season approached, and the Orange Hall in particular was a bit more congested. The Lionel booth drew a MAJOR crowd with the Vision Big Boy prototype that show.

April 2014 will be my third visit, and first time trying out the on-site RV camping. Which reminds me, I still gotta register for all this!

Brian, If you did not know, this "trade show" is the semi annual train meet put on by the Eastern Division ot the Train Collectors Association.  You must be a member to attend, it is not open to the public.  You can however attend once as a guest of a member.  Addmission is the same for members or guests.

I agree with Eddie…worst winter I have possibly ever been through, but only in part from the weather and mostly from having lost my beloved pooch--my most faithful companion--back in early January.

Sadly, I spoke with Eddie by phone today, and he is quickly approaching the time when he, too, will have to say goodbye to his equally faithful companion (who you can see in Eddie's Avatar).  I wish you well, Eddie, and please take comfort in knowing that when the time comes, these most faithful of all friends will be in a much better place.  I'll ask my Pepper to look out for your pooch and they can play together in peace and comfort.

Will see you at York, my friend!

Not much better here in Vermont.  The paper today had an article on what they called the "misery index", taking into account cold, snow, wind, lack of sun, winter-related deaths and injuries, and said this has been the "most miserable winter in 50 years."  Lake Champlain, like Lake Superior, is frozen over for the first time in many years.

The train room is cozy though.

It'll be better in York come April, they're down in the banana belt.

York is Eddie's "event of the year"--two times over.

If you read my previous post on page 1 of this thread, you'll see that he's going through a particularly difficult time right now (one I can easily identify with).  But he'll hang in there throughout, and folks here can be assured that they'll see Eddie posting reminders of the upcoming event in April.
