Eddie:
Congrats on the new puppy - have fun. Our puppy just turned one this past February. How time does fly! I am sure if I read all of the posts, I would know what breed your getting, but I don't.

A Boston terrier.
Best of luck with the new pup Eddie.
Getting closer. Starting to roll all my spare change collected since October!

If it rains a little harder here today, I will be able to float to York.
Waterfront property now available!
I'm predicting at least three sunny and mild days for you on York Week, Eddie. Enjoy!
You're late on the hotel room, time to get crackin'!
Hotel room I'm not too concerned about. For my first time attending back in April 2012 I actually procrastinated right up until the week before the show and still had plenty of rooms to choose from at the Four Points behind the diner. I'll probably have everything booked by tonight and will report on what room availability looked like.
EDIT: Actually just got done with the hotel. Absolute cheapest and closest to the show option for 1 night was the Rodeway Inn at $80. We stayed at one for a Mecum Auto Auction once, was perfectly fine just to hang our heads for a few nights. Expedia.com seemed to show plenty of other choices still left, although the 1 king bed non-smoking rooms are indeed in short supply by now.
Eddie, you're keeping us up on days left, what's the weather going to be like in York.
Jack
Dr. Jack, I'm afraid to predict it. I told you that I am bringing my snow shovel & ice scraper.
Indeed, it's FAR too early to accurately predict what the weather will be.
My earlier "prediction" was just wishful thinking for the benefit of Eddie G., who has suffered with some of my weather predictions for past York Meets.
April long range forecast shows: 4/24 high of 69, 4/25 & 26 both at 70 degrees, however no precip is shown in this long range forecast, your guess is as good as mine.
Jack
The one good thing is that the meet is the last week of the month. Better chance of good weather, I hope.
If you want an accurate prediction, consult the Farmer's Almanac.
I did.
Clearly says:
1) Cloudy with occasional Hudsons
2) Mostly Standard Gauge in the afternoon with a chance of Postwar
3) 100% chance of participation
4) A shower, on Friday, of military vehicles on flat cars followed by clearing of wallets.
The April 2014 York Primer is now available. I updated the post in the Featured Topics at the top of this forum.

Thanks, always useful to check out.
I'm stoked! Yesterday I handed in my keys to the store, and finally retired. I have a room booked for my wife and me and will be there late Thursday night. And from now on with no work committment in will be York twice a year, every year!!!!!!!!
Congrats on that retirement, John! That will make York extra-special for you this month because you won't have any of those work-related worries or schedules to deal with. That has to be something to look forward to!
If I don't get rained on it will break a tradition
Allan, thanks.
Chris, if it does, it will sure beat all the freeking snow we've had.

If you want completely accurate weather information, ask the weatherman what it was like yesterday.
I like that Friday prediction. By the way isthat Good Friday?

Good Friday and Easter are the week before York.
I can't believe it, we have had 2 spring day's in a row. The bad news is, Saturday it's going to be snow, sleet & rain.
Congratulations John.
Right now the weather for York has to be better than anything we have had over the past four months.
15 day's to go..I will arrive on Sunday. Can't wait. The weather is getting more like spring.

WOW, if we ever needed proof that the medical profession isn't what it once was, this is it.

Worked on the Modular layout yesterday. Scratch built TT and support modules are functional. We'll (Fort Pitt High-railers) be in the White Hall.
Mike, That looks great.
We'll (Fort Pitt High-railers) be in the White Hall.
Didn't know about that, will be sure to stop by.
National Capital Trackers are in the Black Hall.

No more excuses for missing club meetings!
We'll be looking for you at York.
14 days Eddie, better do the math again
Loaded the large trailer yesterday. Pulled-out (5) modules that need minor repair before loading is complete. Some track repair, ballast re-do, and scenery touch-up. Should be 99% ready by the end of this week. There are over 40 modules ready for transportation.
Last of the module upgrades.
Ballast upgrade,(2) modules. I believe this is a base module used for the Scenic Express display.
Repair doors on the Korber 304 house. Build a box for the TT bridge. The bridge is removed from the Turntable module, on break-down, and shipped separately.
Power up and trouble shoot the (2) Time Saver modules. Zack, Dave, (Correction/add), Matt, Steve, Bob, Anthony, Dan, Tom, and the club have done a wonderful job of up-grading these two very old modules. With a little luck the control panel will be available to the public. You can test your operation skills.
Track Repair on the (5) track to (4) track cross over module. May be build a couple of sets of spare legs?
Ready
We will be in the White Hall.

There are, of course, 19 days remaining until the actual York Meet begins on Thursday, April 24, through Saturday, April, April 26.
Eddie G. begins his "York Week" on the previous Sunday when there are virtually no events going on aside from some early arrivals pulling into hotel parking lots (fun or interesting to watch for some, I suppose?).
And, of course, one can spend Monday and Tuesday wandering through what's left of the former bandit meets at various venues around town--all of which have been significantly diminished in recent years, and some are gone altogether.
Wednesday, however can be a fun day for those who venture over to Strasburg for the TCA HQ & Museum open house, which includes manufacturer presentations and other activities, as well as a chance to spend the day in a town loaded to the gills with railroading-type activities and places.
Then it's on to noon on Thursday when the "serious stuff" begins.
So for those who have never attended the meet, don't feel that you have to grab your toothbrush just yet and get ready to hit the road. You still have ample time!
