Hmmmm an RV (aka smuggler's Cadillac) from Florida traveling north with a young driver, sounds like you might spend some time on the side of the road getting acquainted with some more PA law enforcement folks lmao!

Well it now looks like I MAY be making it up there, glad I hadn't cancelled the hotel. My wife may not be making it with me though. With Easter being so late this year, it pushed York back a week. York is usually the week before my son's birthday, this year Opening day of the show is his 15th birthday. I am not really comfortable with being away on his day, let alone both of us being away. He says if his older brother comes down, he is cool on waiting to the weekend to celebrate his birthday and that his Mom and I can both go, it just don't feel right to Dad though. Besides I still remember what I was doing at 15 and I will kill him if it does any of it lol!

Well my friend being a father I am sure you understand. He's cool with both my wife and I going up to York, I always try to show my kids that they are what's important, Dad's hobbies take a second seat always. So I am not quite comfortable being that it's his birthday, but my son is still working on me to go. Makes me wonder what he and my oldest son want to get into lol!

This has been something of a tough winter here in South Jersey but we have had at least two tougher ones in recent memory at least as far as total snow accumulation is concerned but that being said there is apparently more snow predicted for Monday.  We still have time to break our 70+ inch snowfall record.  We are close now.  My only hope is that if we break a record it had better be before York.  I have been to 11 York meets, all in April, and for the most part the weather has been Spring like.  Hope that string continues.

It was below zero again last night here in Vermont, but it looks like it's finally going to break. Rain predicted for the weekend.

Seriously, I am going to bring warm socks to York.  The concrete floors in the halls are always colder in April than in October, and they'll be even colder this April.

Good evening everyone,

This will be my wife and I first York show.

I have my badges, signed up for Barry's DCS User Group Meeting, got the motel reservations and directions.

I am not sure what to expect.

I was to one of the World's Greatest Hobby Show when it was in Monroeville PA a few years ago and was amazed, I can just imagine what this is going to be like.

I have, from time to time, found some decent Marklin HO, and even some Z, to buy at the York Meet, but in recent years I haven't really added to that collection.

No question about it that O gauge rules at the York Meet, followed by S gauge and Standard Gauge, I imagine.  You certainly can find every scale/gauge represented there--Z, N, HO, TT, O, Std., Large Scale, and several others--but you'll have to look around a bit.

Aside from gauge selection, at York you will find a few dealers with nicely restored pre-war O and standard, at what, I feel, are reasonable prices. A few will have beautiful vintage trains from Britain and Germany (pricey, but wonderful to look at). Another dealer just sells reconditioned transformers (every kind, all at one location for you to compare). Always fun to see is the Miller booth with all the signs working, Arttista with new and older figures, and Scenic Express to get your imagination in gear. Best of all you may find stuff that you had no idea you needed.

Good evening everyone,

Hello Allan, i kind of thought this is mostly an O Gauge and Standard Gauge show which is ok with me.

I never had the patience for HO or anything smaller.

I have a close friend with a HO layout that is really nice but running trains "just my opinion without sound, smoke and lights HO scale just doesn't cut it"

I am sure the show will be overwhelming.

I have three service technicians coming over from France for training the week before the show so I will need a break and can't think of a better place to be.

Thanks again for everybody's suggestions regarding the show.
