DCS Team,
I am trying to update my TIU and Remote Control to V5.0. I am using a Dell Inspiron 15 R that has the Windows 10 OS. I have down loaded the V5 Loader and Application. No issues because when we needed to go to 4.3 I had no issues. At that time I was using a Panasonic Tough Book and Windows XP, have the Tripp-lite Key Span Model USA-19HS RS-232 Adapter, the stereo audio cable (from Radio Shack), the alternative Sabrent RS-232 - USB 2.0 Serial Cable Adapter, etc. You name it I bought it.
My issue is that when I try to connect the TIU and the laptop (the one with Windows 10 - the Dell), on any of the Comms the TIU cannot be found. After a few hour of wasting my time, I borrowed a IBM ThinkPad with Windows 7 on it. The same thing happens - the TIU cannot be found. In this case I used the Key Span RS-232 for cabling, followed the instructions and => TIU cannot be found.
The default is 3, but when you use a Type A-B USB Cable - this is the one that will power the TIU so you don't need the Transformer the com port goes to 4 or 5. Regardless, the TIU still cannot be found.
Any idea what needs to be done to complete the connection to the Comm Ports? My next step is to look at Barry's book to see what the issue might be but given I am not a super savy computer person - this could be a problem.
Any advise would be appreciated.
Kevin
