Per what was explained to us, the poles take a higher level of wire quality and design. Pantos are more forgiving with more surface area to contact the wire and move around. I'd be curious if there are any special changes to accommodate both. The Blackpool Boat Car was having trouble with the pole staying in contact with the wire and when I was on it, it lost power a few times. One we stopped, the pole was reconnected with the wire and off we went.

Those are great photos of a fine collection. Thanks for posting them! I remember riding that Grand Cypress car when I was at that Orlando resort back in the '80's. I also enjoy the livery on the D.C. Transit PCC car. Every time I see that livery, it reminds me of one of the opening scenes of the 1951 movie, "The Day the Earth Stood Still", in which one of those cars is seen close up.

Thanks for sharing your outing with us. My wife and I visited the museum almost fifteen years ago before the fire and relocation. It was a weekday in the middle of July and I recall it being hotter than Hades. A TTC PCC was running that day. We took the ride and after we returned to the terminal, the Operator gave me my own personal tour of the facility. He took me into the barn, shop and we pretty much covered every inch of the facility. I was very impressed by the scope of the operation and, most importantly, the hospitality of the staff. The fact he offered to bring us around on our own was very nice. As hot as it was, my wife decided to stay in the air conditioned station and the staff were great hosts as they waited for us to return from my tour.

Recalling our wonderful outing that day, I felt terrible when I heard about the fire but it's good to see the organization has rebounded so nicely.
