With the recent snows and being restricted to the house.....I have been trying to build some structures for the in progress layout. I hoped to work on the layout.....but I am nursing a foot issue and can only work at my desk....so I am trying to make the best of it!!!

This started with a AM Models kit. A very simple kit having a total of 6 parts. Walls, floor and a roof is all that's included.....but it had a $4 price tag on it from a few years ago.....I couldn't find if the company is still around or not. I built the kit and added a few things to improve it. Small strips of plastic were added to the window sill as the kit was very two dimensional. I made a smoke stack from plastic to add detail and give the attendant some heat!!! Clear plastic stock was cut for the windows. After they dried I sanded them with a fine mesh sanding stick to fog or obscure them. Painted and weathered with a LED light attached to the underside of the roof interior for a soft glow at night.

The base was made from sheet plastic ,080 stock. I assembled it and roughed it up with a knife and Dremel bit. The back is open as it will be mounted on a hillside. I painted it with Dupli-color light gray and weathered it with black and light gray washes to make it look a little old and beat up.  The railing is a Plastruct item cut and glued. A little rust wash was then added. The barrel is to be painted and is made by Tichy Train.

A good 2 day build that will allow me to get things looking good quicker as soon as I am permitted to get back to the heavy work on the layout. I have a number of other small projects I can complete, box up, ready to go as soon as possible. Thanks!!

I posted this here rather than the structure forum as I thought it was as much a 'dealing with Winter' project as anything!!.

Thanks.....but it was the area I spent the least time!!!!!!

The roof was molded in a dull silver. I used Testors burnt iron to paint it. It is meant to be air brushed but I often brush it on. It streaked on the silver plastic and looked great!! Less is more sometimes!!!

Thanks for all the comments folks!!
