U.P. excursion cars interior paint color

Here's an example of the prototype of a car included in the Excursion set, namely the City of San Francisco dome/lounge observation, this being the dome seating (left) plus a couple of examples of similar cars in service:

The seating and tables in these changed over time and seems to have gone from being basically domestic to hotel style upholstery. Frankly I think you can use your imagination because the cars in the set are really just a representation of the real thing. I decided that I did not like the brown no matter how realistic and wanted something that would be eye-popping in the dome area, which is very clearly visible in the Lionel car as the dome windows are of scale proportions.

For this purpose I removed the seats and turned them to replicate the six four-seater table arrangement:

This is still a work in progress, but I decided on a blue scheme with a printed "carpet" fabric to achieve something like the wall-to-wall fittings in the prototype:

I have not decided what to do about the tables, which if installed as per the prototype would be the dominant feature; I may have to make something smaller. But what I have done is to install LED floor lighting to mimic what I understand is in the real thing:

The Lionel cars of course come without independent lighting in the domes. I've also put in overhead LED lights and the result is that this dome has gone from no lighting to possibly too much but I like the effect:

This is not finished. I'll do the tables and the rest of the passenger figures when I next have the time to spare.
