This is an H-10 MTH diesel which has a MTIH tech installed PS-2 upgrade.  First time I set it on the tracks in 2 years.

Engine sound good and cab chatter good but that that is all and only sound.  No F-N-R  response.

Tried the one horn 5 bell  sequence at the noted timing.  Nothing different.

Also,

Tried 1 horn and 5 bell button pressings irrespective of actual bell sound.  No change.

PS-2 upgrade and locomotive essentially new and unused from birth.

Thoughts?

Thank you.

I think that says it all.   Charge the battery, and I suspect all will be OK.

Consider a BCR to solve this problem, no more dead batteries.

Tom, the simple way is sit it on the track, advance the power to 12-14 volts, and let it charge for a spell, an hour should do it.  MTH also has a battery charger for PS/2 locomotives.  Proto-Sound 2.0 Battery Charger - 50-1019

Finally, you can use a supercap replacement for the battery.  The commercial spread is the BCR2, see below.

For 3V PS/2, this simply consists of a 5V 1.5F supercap and a connector, so you can also roll your own.
