I received the GB Funeral Train set yesterday. The StationSounds car from the set does not work right of the box as it does not light up and cannot be programmed via the Cab-2. I have double checked the switches on the bottom to make sure the lights were set to on. When power is applied to the track, I do hear the standard "start up" sound that I am familiar with from other StationSounds cars, but other than that, nothing else seems to be working correctly. I took the bottom off the car to see if there were any loose connections to the sound board, but everything was nice and snug. I called Lionel and they are going to RMA, but it is a 2-3 week wait until I even get my label.

In the meantime, has anyone experienced this with a StationSounds car or have any suggestions for a quick fix?

Have you programmed it to a TMCC ID?  I have the prior UP sound diner and the lights do not come on unless I start it up like you would an engine.  So assign it an ENG ID (Slide PROG/RUN switch to PROG, place on track, power up track, Push ENG button on remote type in a number and push the set button.  Turn off track power, slide PROG/RUN switch to RUN.) and then tell the remote it's a sound diner (Push INFO button on remote and go through all the options for that ENG ID, making sure it's set as sound diner under type and sound is LEG if it's an option.).  Now when you power the track back up, turn on the diner like you would startup a locomotive and the lights should come on.

Yes, I tried programming with no luck. Regardless, the car lights do not work.

I've got the same exact problem with mine.  I have a thread on the Lionel service forum documenting exactly the same issue.  So your not alone
