Does the can motor have a flywheel?  You need the tach reading from the stripes on the flywheel to run PS2. The Tach clamps to the outside of the motor, you need room around it for that.

Other than those points, I see no reason why not, but finding a sound file that matches the gearing may be a long search.

Russell, it does have a flywheel motor. Don't know whether it's a Pittman or other brand. I do know I have to find this out before install ps2.Will remove cover and check this week-end. As for the sound file it just has to be something close. Seems to be plenty of room for new smoke unit after I gut it. Will put the ps2 in tender. Thanks, Tom
