Yesterday I had an unfortunate accident with an I-5 Weaver steam engine. While working on my electrical panel, I inadvertently put full power to my mainline track and the locomotive slammed into the edge of the open control panel. The engine still operates ok but a side rod has broken off and the gear bent. I think the two pieces can be bent back into shape but I have no idea how the fasteners work. This is a repair I cannot make. Does anyone have an idea where I might get some help on this? Bill Park

Gosh...it looks like it might be a question of replacing that rivet...(?)

You can get rivets from Precision Scale or Lionel. You could also drill and tap it for a screw if its not tapped already.

Gentlemen, Thanks for your suggestions. I emailed my local shop, SW parts supply and he has given me the green light to bring it there. He has a lot of experience and he thinks he can straighten it and do what is necessary for the fastener. The repair is out of my league I think. Bill Park
