With your beautiful layout this is an interesting question from you!!!!

BUT, since you asked I measured.  The legs are 5 1/2" high, not including those padded adjustable things.  Then the frame is made from 1"x2" on edge.  So the total height to the top of the frame is 7".   The Homasote adds another 1/2" to that and the adjustable pads add a varying amount too, but typically minimal.

Good morning Walt:

Thanks for answering the question. I have watched you put together your annual Christmas layout for several years now. When I saw the pictures you posted yesterday, I was curious as to the height you used and your motivation for this size. You answered the question when you mentioned the height of the tunnel portals you use. I am really looking forward to your new adventure into Tinplate Trains this year. Your annual project is such a "fun thing" for us to watch the progress you make on a weekly basis. You are truly a wonderful contributor to our Forum.

And thanks for the compliment about our railroad.

PassengerTrainCollector:

You can see in the picture from the 2012 layout how I tried to match the heights.

BTW: Thank you for saying what you did because I CONSTANTLY question myself on whether I should post those in-progress pictures or not.  But I do because they are all that I have available.  Your encouragement is appreciated.

Thanks.

Saturday November 2,2013.  Dave said something about a 2nd shipment he had not received. He was still waiting for the one he had ordered for himself.
