So this is the weekend that the "Spring Thaw' train show takes place in Allentown? I don't see much thawing. Maybe some pictures will help. Welcome to Weekend Photo Fun Arctic Edition.

Last Saturday was Train Lovers Day at the VMT:

Yes I did get my Russian Set to run.

Here are a few of my pix from last Sunday's Greenberg show in Monroeville, PA:

4 of the 5 Vision Line Big Boys that were at the show (mine was on the track at the time):

Finally got to stretch the legs on some of my favorite cars.  Wish Atlas would do another run of these:

Even zombies, sasquatch and apes have to wait in line when it comes to port-a-johns... :

And on a sad note, I lost my furry train buddy this week :

Work continues at a nice pace on the postwar layout rebuild -

Got the mountain up this week & pretty much wired all the lights. It's funny how easy it is to build this the 2nd time around.

Picked up a 1055 in pretty nice shape to run on the upper level. Even though this unit is stripped down, it still runs great w/ a small load in tow

Some more PA pics -

NS 10A w/ an ex Conrail SD80MAC leading heads down Washington Ave in Tyrone as it runs on the Nittany & Bald Eagle - 11/22/14

NS SD40E helpers wait for their next assignment in Rose Yard as 67Z & 533 head westbound through Altoona - 11/23/14-

Well it's -2 here, headed up to a +6!  I have to take a run with the snow blower again.  I'm going to have to find a gauge that's large enough to allow a rotary snow plow to clean the driveway.  It's getting to be a bit much for this old man.

So another one of my favorites is moving on.  This was a fine engine with a good Santa Fe heritage.  Had one of my favorite TMCC horns.  One of the details that Lionel captured was the dual sealed beam headlights.  They don't always do that.

I really think these were very cool engines.  Take a look at the prototype in action, quite impressive:

Speaking of the Artic Edition of this weeks' Photo Fun, we have for most of the past month have many days with temperatures at or below zero. Add to that about 50" of level snow, we are not spending a lot of time out in the train room (photo of structure tells you why). So most of our train time is devoted now to working on the new Christmas layout. It is appropriate with all the snow we have to show caribou in the snow this week.

It would take an extraordinary locomotive for me to bench this little guy.  If 3rd Rail does produce the Southern Pacific 0-6-0 switcher that is proposed, I will buy it.  The last I heard, they needed more reservations before production begins.  DCS tells me that my MTH 0-4-0 has traveled 2600 scale miles on my layout--mostly at a scale 4 to 7 mph.

You just gotta love those SD80MAC's, my favorite locomotives of all time. Besides the ES44AC's and SD70M-2's. I see that they finally upgraded the 80MAC's number boards with LED lights now. So, that's why I saw so many of them at Juniata and Chattanooga so many times.

These Williams PA's are among my 'most favorites' !

The American Flyer 'North Coast Ltd' was always on my wish list as a boy. Unfulfilled until Lionel brought them back in the 1990's. Somehow just wasn't the same...
