Hi all,

Here's a little scenery/structure project we worked on this past week on the NWTL.

For quite a while left the bridges unfinished with temporary wood structures in place just to get the railroad open.

I set to work replacing the first of these temp bridges with an Atlas Pratt truss.  However, we wanted to improve the details of the standard kit with a few custom touches.  For starters, we replaced the stock plastic ties with hand weathered wood ties.

This was pretty easy once we made a jig to assemble the ties into sections that match the dimensions of the stock plastic tie sections.

Once the ties were installed I spiked ScaleTrax rail across the bridge.  I also added code 148 guard rails for a more realistic touch.  A little weathering, some cast metal bridge feet, concrete abutments, and some landscaping on the edges and the job was done.

I finally get to post a photo of one of my locomotives...  We had a great meeting of the MDOG group today at Jim Mason's home.  I really enjoyed seeing his great layout and meeting everyone.  I even had the honor to run my old MPC Chessie System Special Berkshire on his pike.  He went out of his way so I could run my conventional engine on his DCS layout.  I've had the engine since it was new and it has never ran on anything but a 4x8 oval so this was a real treat.  Thanks Jim...

Alan, I much appreciate when you take the time and effort to say something pleasant about my layout scenes, and I appreciate what you have so enthusiastically said, as well, of course. I don't think any of us post to hear silence, do we.

It looks as if you had as much fun as we did.

Thanks for posting the photos.
