This CP GP9 engine has been parked on a siding behind the plant where I work for the past week.

It is amazing that this engine is 57 years old and still in service. They seem to be using it for track maintenance. (There has been some repair work going on further down the line.) All that it is hooked up to is this covered gondola car. It would make a realistic model train consist, all you need is a GP9 and a covered gondola, which are both very common in the toy train world.

And those days of full service when they pump your gas and clean your windshield

still exist here in Oregon ( and I think N.J.). just think how many jobs we could create if all the states went back to full service. And no more gas smell on your hands!! great scenes, Alan.

Another view.... I used flash and it kinda canceled out all the lights inside the buildings.

A good view of the mountain with its new inhabitants.... the elk or deer.

A good shot down the street from the tracks.  I have a Frosty Shop going in at the end that arrives today!

The cows came home... and promptly got fenced in when my girlfriend commented on the fact they would get on the tracks and get hit.

And for anyone interested in seeing the WHOLE layout and how incredibly HUGE it is, go to the "Weekend at the movies" or whatever that thread is and you can see my video of the ENTIRE LAYOUT!  Its truely getting massive!  (snicker snicker)

Last week I had the opportunity to visit the Exporail railway museum in Saint Constant, Quebec just south of Montreal. If you get a chance and haven't already visited I highly recommend it. Many, many important engines and cars from Canada's railroad history are beautifully displayed. Also, a Mallard class locomotive from the U.K., The Dominion of Canada. It was brought over to the museum in 1967 during our centennial year and will be returning to the U.K. in September for a two year cosmetic restoration before returning to the museum. Great to see this streamlined locomotive.

Great photos again everyone.

Scott - I'm not an N&W fan, but those redbirds are pretty sharp.

Fireman Chris - I really like the looks of your engine shed.

My contribution to this weekend is a repaint job on a MTH Crane tender car. MTH never made a compliment to the Nickel Plate crane car, and even though there isn't a prototype per se, I've wanted a tender for a long time, so I decided to go ahead and make my own.
