Nothing rare or priceless at my house. And that is not just trains.

Maybe 'difficult-to-find'. Some LCCA or TTOS Standard O cars. Might be hard coming up with more of the K-Line Shadow Rail O-81 curves.

If its flooding or the house is on fire, kids & wife, and maybe checkbook or credit card, are coming with, the rest can burn for all I care, it can all be replaced. Burglar comes into our house, they will be disappointed. Even the house, it is not our most valuable asset.

I'm not sure they'd qualify as "rare", but I had a heckuva time trying to acquire the two K-Line Collector's Club Kennecott Copper Corporation RS-3's (that's a mouthful!) a few years ago. Unlike the very common K-Line KCC MP-15 (which is abundantly available on eBay), these RS-3's seem to be pretty scarce. I like the paint scheme a lot, and they look great pulling the matching set of ore cars. I sure do miss K-Line products!

It just occurred to me that, in terms of locos I almost never hear people talking about, the Lincoln Funeral Train loco must be the rarest loco I own.  It is seldom mentioned or shown on forums or at shows, etc.   My 3rd Rail Train of Tomorrow, ATSF 2929, etc., were made if far smaller numbers, but people talk about them a lot.  Of course, not being mentioned means few people care, but it is a cute, if incredibly delicate, little thing.

I would have to say my undecorated K-Line Scale Pacific.  I put A&WP 290 decals on it, but I've only seen one of these in the past year on the auction sites - and I bought it.  If I saw another, I would be very interested in getting it too.   The detailing is great, as well as the cruise control.  I miss K-line...

The gray and black paint scheme, with a dark red cab roof, was as-delivered for the AC-4, but they were repainted black and there aren't many prototype photos of them in gray.

I would agree; fortunate to have one also only usurped by the my 3rd Rail SP AM-2 Cab Forward (nasty detailed)!

One of only five Sunset Models B&O P-7d Cincinnatian streamlined Pacifics # 5303. Only 50 total Sunset models of the P-7d were built in 2 and 3 rail combined and only 5 were built as # 5303 with spoked end drivers and boxpok center driver. All 5 are two rail locomotives. These were just delivered in Late April.

Other than our 3-Rail GENERAL loco, which ultimately came in with 135 total (after 18 of them were factory converted to 2-Rail), no SMR 3-Rail engine version was ever made in quantities greater than 50.

The rarest piece is the 3-Rail Richmond & Danville "Pocahontas" of which only 4 were made.  It is even rarer because I personally held on to model serial #1, so only 3 pieces are out there.  It was only made to honor a few pre-orders.

Rare?  Time will tell.  Uncommon?  I think so.  According to 3rd Rail's owner Scott Mann, only 64 Berks were made in 3 rail during this recent production run.  Four (4) Northern Pacific #2626 A-1 Pre-War with coal tender, four (4) Northern Pacific #2626 A-1 Post-War Black Boiler with oil tender, sixteen (16) Northern Pacific #2626 A-1 Post-War Grey Boiler with oil tender and forty (40) Timken #1111 (4-ACES) which is the one I purchased.

Now here comes a "plug" for our wonderful forum sponsor Scott.  If you missed snagging one of these beauties, there are a few still available!!!  See HERE.

Best,

Dave

I live in the cleveland area but have mostly Milw Road engines.  Nobody around here appreciates the beauty of Midwestern, bright colored trains.I did pick up a bunch of C&NW engines and passenger trains, but I'm planning on selling virtually all of them in the next couple of months.  Getting too old to keep everything so I made the determination to sell off all the C&NW,  Included are a beautiful, 8 car set of K-Line, 21" passenger cars with a pair of E-8 "A"'s.  About 18 feet of passenger train.  Also an MTH E-4 Hudson set with 7 cars in dark green.   Then  there's the set of 60" Atlas cars, all correct, with a Lionel 4-6-0 for power.  Few other things, too.

Custom highlights of my collection. Arcade and attica has been a part of my life for 30+years. When i had extra money i had a guy in the local ttos chapter custom paint #18 from a railking NY Jets engine. He also did #112 from a williams 44 tonner which also received MTH proto 2 electronics. Except for the dry transfer letters all the stripes and boxes are painted. He said he is never doing another!IMG_3571IMG_3572IMG_3573

My brass, former Williams USRA Mikado, turned into a GM&O (former GM&N) Baldwin Heavy Decapod with Coffin FWH (they had 2 with Coffins; the others had none). Shortened frame and boiler, K-line drivers (#5) and scratch built side rod extensions, scratch-cast sand and steam domes, modified firebox, various detailing changes. ERR Cruise Commander and sound added.

The Coffin FWH is part of a PVC pipe fitting from Ace Hardware.

To do the broken-line scheme as originally done by Brooks Stevens would exceed my painting skills by quite a bit. The original paint job never made it onto the whole train, as delivery of the observation cars and some other cars was delayed and the railroad changed to a simplified scheme before they were received.

I'd love to have a set of cars in the original Stevens broken-line decoration. Maybe we can persuade Scott Mann to make a Golden Gate Depot set like he did with the Daylights and the Super Chief cars.

i think it would look awesome.

A problem with the Atlas O Erie-builts (besides finding them, unless Atlas O does a remake) is finding any passenger cars that match the colors of the engines.
