2.0 is the latest version.
Here's the page to download it: LSU Download, it's the "software update" link.
Thank you!
I know this is a dumb question, I'm going to ask it anyway!! How do you know what version you have. I can't find anyplace the NUMBER 2 (or 1).
I must have the First Version. It doesn't look like that. If I input Version 2, will it override Version 1. OR will I have both on my computer??
Uninstall the first version and install version 2. I had both for a while, but since version 2 seems to work and do everything, I ditched the old one. Nice thing about version 2 is it uses the WiFi to talk to the base, so I don't have to run a cable over to the base from the computer to use the LSU program.
This might sound like a silly question, but, does the cab 2 say 2.0? Mine has the 1.53 update, so, would this be an update I should do? I do not plan to use my I-Pad to run trains at this time. I think it's a cool idea, I just like using Cab 2 Legacy...

LSU is separate from the Legacy firmware. Current LSU software version 2.0. Current Legacy Firmware 1.54. Cab 2 will show 1.54 firmware version.
I understand 1.6 Legacy firmware is on the cards for the release of the new Legacy stationsound cars.
Hope that made sense
Nick
Hi Larry,
The Legacy System Utility is a Windows program that lets you do various "housekeeping" functions related to the Legacy 990/CAB2 system. It does not run your trains, it's totally separate from the software that is loaded into your Legacy 990 system. What you're running now is fine.

P.S. Also, what Nick said!
Rudy;
just updated to windows 10 and the LSU has an issue opening. I download a fresh install from lionel and the issue continues. when I click on the desk top icon it attempts to install again (it is already installed) then it tries to install Microsoft office professional when I click cancel the LSU opens. even if I go here, legacysystemutility.exe I still get the installer. have not tried to write modules yet.
just an FYI. don't know it is this computer or not.
Here's an even sillier question - does Lionel have a version that works on Macs yet? Thanks. The only non-Apple laptop in our house is an old Dell on XP and I'm not running that unit anymore - too long unsupported, now a security liability to even fire it up.
No Mac version and Lionel has no plans to produce one at this time. I'm a Mac user myself, but I have a version of XP running under VMware and I use Legacy System Utility on that.
Rudy
had to do a clean install of windows 10 on my laptop. now I get this error message after downloading the program from Lionel.
hope someone can read it sorry about it being small.
hi Bigdog,
From your attached screen shot, it looks like you are trying to launch the installer from within the ZIP file. Try extracting the files to your hard drive first, then re-run the installer and let us know what happens.

just tried the "setup1.exe" in the unzip folder and the message is "invalid command-line parameters. unable to continue"
if in the un-zipped file I click LegacySystemUtility.exe I get this error;
Thanks, we'll look into it.
any update on this??
They must have tweeked the program.
I was having trouble getting it to open and install on both my desktop (Windows 10) and my laptop (Windows Vista) also. Finally last night I was able to get LSU v2 to install properly on both computers. I did have to re-download the program to both computers yesterday. Now all is well.
rb2hogger, we haven't posted an update to LSU. Glad to hear you resolved the problem. If you could describe what you did to make it work, it could be helpful to others.
thanks,

yes please tell us what you did because I removed all the LSU, downloaded again from Lionel and still get the same error messages I posted above.
update;
here is what I did that seems to work;
after downloading the file right click on said file what ever zip program you are using click extract here. it will extract in a new folder. click setup in the new folder if you get any error messages ignore the messages and it should install correctly.
2nd update;
just made both cab and base version 1.54 modules works as advertised.
I think I did just what "bigdodgetrain" said he did. I'm not a computer geek, so I have to work my way around tell I get the desired results and it worked. I also was able to upgrade my Cab2 and Base to v1.54. Again desired results.
Where do you find the software updates now that Lionel has redone their website? Former link to LSU is broken.
