I have embarked on my many-months long revision of the trainroom, starting at the top and working down. Job one is replacing ugly shelfs with more, and more attractive shelves.
When done my trainroom will be ringed at the top by passenger trains. Santa Fe Super Chief along one wall, City of LA on the other, B&O Royal Blue and a PRR Victorian-era train on the fourth.
The Royal Blue (red arrow, first photo below) would not fit. The shelf was two inches longer than the train, but due to the slope of the ceiling, at the height of the cars and loco, six inches too short.
Less than two hours work was required to modifiy both ends like this, and it fits, as in the photo above, and i let it dry overnight. I love solutions like like this!
