as far as a model goes what changed? I could not find anything.
It's going to be between Union Pacific or BNSF. Most likely Union Pacific.
I was under the impression he was talking about a model. since this is not the real trains section.
For clarification..........Who will be the 1st model train to present the ES44AC Tier 4?

Swafford
Let's see. We have Lionel Vision ES44ACs, Lionel Plastic Heritage ES44ACs, MTH Premier ES44ACs, the newly tooled Railking ES44ACs, Plus the different paint schemes of the the flashing-charge-light Hybrid ES44ac's...
Yeah, I'd say we are over-saturated in this model in 3rail/ogauge.
I'd really like to see the Lionel's new ES44AC version in Union Pacific and BNSF.

Swafford
I hope they wait until the next catalog. I definitely like this one. Any idea what's under the "bulge"?
What about a Premier and RailKing version of the Trinity RailCar 5160 Cu. Ft. 3-Bay Covered Hoppers and Articulated Intermodal well cars being made before a new General Electric?

If the people at Lionel and the factory in China planned ahead, they would be able to change this detail on their plastic injection molds.

Since the safety cab, all diesels look the same to me.
I wonder if this will have the flashing charging lights? If so I'm in.
I wonder if this will have the lashing charging lights? If so I'm in.
Lashing charging lights. What' that?

The sequential charging lights are about the most cool feature I've seen on any locomotive. That's why I bought both of the GE demo models made by MTH.
Any idea what's under the "bulge"?
This explanation is from another forum:
"The raised hood between the engine air intake and radiator houses exhaust gas recirculation equipment and associated cooling, much as is in the much larger hump on SD59M-2 UP 9900.... In earlier tier 4 GE prototypes, this area contained selective catalytic reduction equipment and urea injection equipment."

You and me both. I would love to see the NSC cars made. But until they do I am in the process of trying to make them out of styrene.

I doubt production units (if the hybrid would have made it that far) would've had the "charging lights" anyway. They served no useful purpose other than as a demo feature and would have been something else to maintain.

Here is a video of the loco. It looks like it won't have the flashing charging lights. Darn. They are cool running around the layout in and out of tunnels.
I used to despise modern 6 axle diesel engines, but man I have seen the light! These things are sexy and modern. I'm so enamored with these units now I have gone from an 80s-90s modeller of Chessie early CSX to modern CSX. Been able to pick up a CSX Dash8 YN3, CW4400 YN3 and the new PS3 ES44AC YN3b (box car logo). I'm in heaven! Also the paint scheme on these demo units are simply breathtaking. Here's to MTH firing these up in PS3!
I agree that production units would almost certainly NOT have charging lights. They would serve absolutely no useful purpose. HOWEVER, they sure look great on the models!
I doubt that I would buy yet another model though (the 2015, which is the subject of this thread, for example) unless it was made in a different paint scheme.
2015 is fast approaching.......................Who will be the 1st model train to present the General Electric ES44AC Tier 4?

I wish it would be CSX or NS. But I have a feeling it will be BNSF and then UP. UP wouldn't look bad in that engine.
I say this is one new tooling we don't need right now.
Let's get that correct SD70MAC from 3rd rail and worry about this one in a few years.
I just placed an order for this one.

Yes Frank, I am a player if the one you have pictured gets produced. I have both Lionel Legacy Versions, The GE and the CP RAIL....They are beautiful. Thanks for the question.
