Thinking about having a whole house surge protector installed at the circuit box. I seem to remember some issues when the command bases were connected via a surge protector power strip.
Would there be the same issues with a whole house type?

It depends on the ground. The problem was that some surge protectors have grounding issues. Best to talk with a qualified electrician
I've never had an issue even with surge protector strips. And I also have a whole house surge protector and no issues. I would just do it and being that far away from the source (your Legacy base) I would not think it would be an issue.
