On the google store, today appeared version 1.20 of the app, dated 9/22/16. Under "What's new" it says the E-stop button is hidden by default.
Since posting the previous paragraph, I have been advised that this is the only change made. Under :settings" has been added the ability to show or not show the E-stop button.

I like it to be available. You can hide it with the current version. A good option.
I agree, Marty, and after upgrading, first thing I did was restore it. When things are popping, I want it handy.
As of this morning, the DCS App 1.20 update is available on the iTunes Store for Apple devices.
I noticed that when my app was updated on my devices, the E-Stop button, which was previously set as visible, remained visible. This is expected behavior, since app updates typically do not change any user-made settings.
Upon update on android, my estop button was not visible until I went into settings and boved the "switch."
Mine is visible I actually have to choose to hide it
