My SD 70m RK ps2 has a slightly fuzzy sound when activating the horn. Is this a warning to change it as to not harm my ps2 board? Can i use a spare 4 ohm ps3 premier diesel speaker for a replacement?

If you have a 3V PS2 board and the speaker will fit. Yes
If you have a 5V PS2 board No
The 16 ohm speakers used in many of the older 5V board locomotives self-destructed after a few years, and frequently took the boards with them. A common failure was the amplifier IC, but I've seen the board dead after the speaker went.
You can get 2" 16 ohm speakers at a variety of places for pretty low cost that will fit many older PS/2 locomotives.

It is a 3v board. What is the ohm in the RK engine? My spare premier speaker is 4 ohm 4 watt 2inch unit. GRJ suggested 16 ohm replacement oops he meant for 5 volt board.
For a 3 volt engine, you want to use a 4 ohm speaker. Your 4 ohm, 4 watt speaker will work fine as long as it fits.
As always fast and accurate answers Thanks
If it doesn't fit, there are other sources for reasonably-priced speakers that will.
There are not differences between RK and Premier electronics. The board, smoke unit, speaker are the same.
But different speaker sizes are used depending on the model.
16ohm speakers are really becoming more difficult to find. I think all the modern amps are using 8 and 4 ohm now.
MTH has transitioned to 4 ohm with PS-2 3V and PS-3.
Come in a few sizes oval, 40mm, 45mm, 50mm, pancake 50mm for O gauge.
HO and #1 have different sizes also. G
