My Legacy H10 derailed and the engines L shaped coupler got bent, resulting in the infrared emitter slanting upward. I’m getting “generic” rail sounds from the tender, smoke and lights on the engine, but it’s stalling, and the lights on the tender are not working. Either the emitter is damaged, a wire got loosened, or maybe the emitter is directional and not aligned with the receiver.
My question is whether the emitter needs to be pointing directly at the receiver on the tender to communicate effectively.
