It is not.  My guess is until everyone can update the App and update the Base3 to the new firmware they won't release it.  Apparently the Base has to get the new firmware before the B3SU can be used.

It is a holiday weekend, and they may just be just running late.

According to Sean of Sean's Train Depot on You Tube, you just have to keep trying the WPS until you get it. That's what I did and finally it connected.

If you want the Base3 to connect to your Home Network quickly every time... Go to the Network/WiFi Connection Settings in Cab3.

Press on "Manually Enter" (its probably blank)...  Type in 192.168.1.111, Press 'Set', Turn Off Base3, (if in AP mode switch to Network mode) Turn Base3 on.  Base3 should connect to your home network immediately.

Check Network/WiFi Connection Settings in Cab3... 'Auto Detect' should now be 192.168.1.111.  You now have a Static IP.

192.168.111.1 *is* the Base3 'AP' address...

Who says they are using the same firmware.  Too many assumptions get made causing unnecessary alarm.  Jon Z @SantaFeFan himself said he updated using it so it must function to some degree with the current version but I suspect there are portions that needed the new firmware to work properly.

I found the 1.26 firmware update in the CAB3 app but updating the base3, following the instructions, would seem to be impossible since the CAB3 app cannot find the firmware update I downloaded. I selected 1.26 and a note said it was already downloaded. I connected to the base3 manually in AP mode, reopened the CAB3 app and it connected to the Base3 but it cannot find the software. It says "No firmware file available." This software reminds me of something out of Windows 95 or DOS. I don't think this software updater is very good and just has me chasing my own tail. Has anybody done this and would they please help?

Quasi similar experience...

Gave it one more try... Uninstalled Cab3 and did a cold boot (i.e., turned OFF the Fire 7 (android) and then re-started).  Downloaded Cab3 app installed, downloaded Base3 v1.26 to the Cab3 again.  Went through the Base3 v1.26 update... no issues.  NOW, able to connect first time every time to either AP or Network (static IP), Base3 & WiFi configuration screens pop right up. Ran the trains for an hour... 0 issues.

What do windows developers do when their car runs out of gas?  Roll down the windows, get out and run around the car 3 times... get back in, roll the windows up and try to start the car.  REPEAT!

B3SU documentation does state Base3 firmware 1.26 is needed.   Did anyone notice the last legacy system base update was 1.2, The firmware that came with my Base 3 was firmware 1.22...

I used an Adroid, newer, to do the firmware update.  I followed the CAB3 app instructions that are listed on the Firmware Updater page in the CAB3 app.   My phone was about 4 feet away from the Base3.   After the download from the internet, it lists in small green letters "firmware 1.26. Base3", under the "Select Formware and Download to CAB3" button.   

After firmware update on the Base3  I configured it for my home network in the CAB3 WiFi Connection settings.  The Base3 showed up on the router after rebooting to the network setting.   The CAB3 auto-connect would not work.   I had to set Manual IP address in the CAB3 Wifi connection settings for it to connect on my home network.  So far it has been connecting reliably. 

Same thing with the CAB3 on an apple (Gen 5 ipad), it would not autoconnect even though it was searching my home network.  Once I set the manual IP address, it connected.

Same here when I commandeered my wife's iPhone for testing a few weeks back.

iOS users, If you are using WPS and are not Setting the Network IP Manually via the Cab3... what IP is being assigned to the Base3 when connecting via a home network?

Also, I haven't seen any post from iOS users updating the Base3 to v1.26... am I missing those posts?

I preface this by saying I don't have the BASE3, so this is all just networking questions.

I don't see where setting the BASE3 IP manually to 192.168.1.111 will work in all cases.  For instance, my Google MESH network has a default gateway of 192.168.86.1, so I suspect at a minimum I'd have to use 192.168.86.111 to make that work.  Also, if x.x.x.111 is already in use on your network, that would also be a problem.

As it turns out, x.x.x.111 isn't currently used on my network, so I suppose by changing to the proper subnet as above it might work.

You know me John...    I can set 192.168.xxx.xxx to what ever I want.  The vast majority of of routers are set to 192.168.1.1 (the routers IP address) right out of the box.  I would suspect that the vast majority of users never change the routers IP address.

Login to your routers admin page for your routers IP information.   You can also use the Command Prompt; C:\>ipconfig

The Google MESH didn't make it easy to change the default base address.  By the time they got around to fixing that in their management software, I had too many things with static IP addresses assigned and I didn't feel like fixing all of those.   Also, the Google MESH doesn't have a standard HTTP interface for Windows, you have to use the Android or Apple app to manage it.

At some point I expect I'll want to replace the Google MESH with something more "standard", but it's been working fine for us so far.

192.168.xxx.xxx

192.168 < This is the LOCAL address for your home network... this does not change.  Your home network will work as a Local network even if you are not connected to the Internet.

1st) xxx. < Subnet this is usually but, NOT always 1.  It can be changed... however, ALL Devices on your LOCAL home network MUST use the SAME Subnet.

2nd) .xxx < Device Address on your LOCAL home network.  This can be Automatically Assigned to a Device by your Router 'DHCP' (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) or you can manually set this to a number of your choosing (as long as the chosen number does not conflict with another Device) that does not change... i.e., Static IP.

Base3 192.168.111.1 < Lionel Base3 IP address... note 1st) .xxx is a different Subnet than your Routers Subnet.  This IS the AP (Access Point) Mode address.  It does NOT Change... even when you Manually Enter a Different IP address via the Cab3 so that you can use Network Mode.

2nd).xxx < You can make this any number from 2-254 (<-fixed, thanks) that you like as long as the number has NOT been assigned to another Device on your Home Network.

All I did was invert the Subnet & Device Numbers on my network...

Base3 AP address:  192.168.111.1 - Network address for Base3: 192.168.1.111 (Static IP)

Easy for me to remember.

Not exactly. This depends on what the Network Mask (usually 255.255.255.0) is set to. If you wanted more that 256 IPs you can change the netmask to get 192.168.1.xyz to communicate with 192.168.2.abc for example

Don't use 255 as the last octet. That's a broadcast address.

The other issue is with any WiFi, some products just don’t like each other. I had this a few years ago when we had Spectrum. They did a latest. And greatest WiFi router and poof fire stick would not connect. Even after setting everything manually it would just not connect. The team at Spectrum changed out the new unit for another and poof it worked…….it just happens.

a good work around/check is to connect to another router either a phone/tablet that can act as a go between. If it works that might be the answer until the next update comes out or a new router is purchased .

I appreciate the ipconfig info. Turns out, mine is 198.168.0.1, which explains why mine said it was looking in all 198.168.0.xxx subsets. But no matter what number I put in for the xxx section, I get "No Base 3 found." Am I just unlucky in the number I've put in?

I downloaded 1.26 to my PC. Now waiting for the B3SU to update the firmware and finally use the B3SU and the Base3. Right now the Base3 is useless and actually changes my engine number assignments when used with the CAB3. Anyone seen or heard hideorhair of the B3SU application yet?

Yes I don't know how it happened. I only have 2 engines loaded in there, one steam and one diesel. They were correctly entered in and saved but then in the course of trying to swap back and forth between them they got changed.

Has anyone else have issues install the Base3 Utility on the PC.  I just downloaded B3SU v1.0.9 and it failed to install on Windows 11.
