Well our layout is wired that way, with the addition of TMCC/Legacy. We can run any train, anywhere, DCS, Conventional, and/or TMCC/Legacy.

There was no special wiring needed, and we do have toggles on all the whisker tracks to turn the power off.

We can control the voltage using the Cab2 or the DCS remote.

But...you can't run conventional and DCS in the same block at the same time. I would be hesitant about wiring a roundhouse/turntable for conventional operation. The slow speed operation required is not nearly precise enough in conventional mode..... not for me anyway.

We have 15 whisker tracks around our TT, and each has its own toggle. We can turn them all on at the same time and let the engines smoke if we want to. For photo opportunities alone, having complete control of every track is the best way to go

My layout is divided into some 70 blocks, each controlled by a toggle.  No problem with signal strength.  Be sure that the toggles can handle at least 6 amps.

If power is already applied to a TIU channel feeding a block when the toggle is turned on, the loco will probably start in conventional, so then you hit startup or shutdown.

I leave volume settings on locos/tenders high, so I can quickly tell if a loco is in conventional.

If TIU chennel power is applied after a toggle is turned on, the loco gets the watchdog signal.
