Looking for a wiring diagram for a Lionel Dept 56 Hudson Steam engine and tender, Lionel #6-52175.  This model has the upgradable boards in the tender and engine, to go from conventional trains sounds, to full TMCC and rail sounds.

Some one has reconnected the four wire harness to the tender, in less than a factory assembly.  Just trying to get the train sounds working for the customer.

Does this help?

If I remember correctly the tether has to bring over serial data for RS, Coupler signal for tender, reverse light.  The 4th wire may be AC center rail.

I would plug tether into engine with shell off and trace with continuity meter.  Find which is rear coupler, reverse light, serial data and test other until you get continuity.  Mother boards should have print on them what they are to help.  G

John, I see more mother board with it, than without.  Even TAS had it.

Paul that is probably standard 28000 series wiring.  You can get it off of LIO Service website.

Red looks AC power, but from right to left I think black is Serial data, green is coupler or light so trace it, the 3 pin is ac ground sent over to tender and the 4 is coupler or light.  Not sure why that cap is between black and ground on engine though.

The instructions I posted will work for you.  There are jumpers to move.   G
