My Layout has 2 main lines each line is 48 foot in total.

I power each line with a Lionel 180 Brick.

I would like to add DCS to my Lionel Command Control.

I have the following questions:

Can I leave each Main Line as 1 block and run a pair of wires to 2 different areas of the Main Line for no voltage drop?

Should I break each line down into 2 blocks each?

Can I use 1 brick to power each of the 2 blocks?

 Thank you,

 Bob p.

bobnj1,

RJR is giving you great advise, I will take this one step further.

In reality you need to think about this in a different engineering mind set, if you want to have a layout that works perfectly.  You will not be adding DCS to your TMCC, infact you will running your TMCC thru your DCS.  Bob the very 1st thing you need to do is purchase the OGR DCS Video Guide and Barry's DCS O Gauge Companion, 2nd addition.  These two instructional purchases will save you time, money & frustration as you set up your DCS/TMCC layout.  After watching the Video and Reading Barry's incredible book, come back and we will help you with anything you do not fully understand.   Use Barry's book track side as you set up.  Rewatch Rich Melvins fantastic visual instruction as many times as you need to, even the

cable positions are important as you connect your DCS & TMCC together.  Have a great time with your DCS/TMCC layout.

While I also recommend Barry's book It speaks of the perfect setup and DCS will work with far less than perfection.

RJR's method will work. Note you only have to break the center rail, not the outer rails.

Optimal is only 12 sections of track per block. One power connection per block is important !

My layout has 11' x 23' in a figure 8 with wyes across the middle.

2 power drops at far ends. 5 dead end siding, no light bulbs, no filters, NO blocks. And it works with an older TIU, not a Rev L.

You don't mention if you have sidings or stub ends.

I would put those each as a block by themselves for best signal.

That is what is making my signal poor in a couple locations.
