Can anyone provide an instruction sheet for a Lionel OTC actuator -- for operating a Lionel Log Dump Car 3461 with sliding shoes. With thanks in advance ...
If you're taking the OTC approach you're going to need two of these, spaced carefully so as each one contacts a slide shoe on the car, one on one end of the car one on the other. Am I correct?
Looks like I was wrong. Only one is needed. Apparently the shoes on your car are positioned next to each other and not at the ends like a traditional operating car:

Mellow Hudson:
Thanks for responding. Yes, I have two OTC lock-ons for that purpose.

Thanks for the Lionel OTC drawings. I plan to use the version for a Lionel #90 pushbutton as the activator.
My layout is wired with TMCC, so 18v is applied to the rails all the time. Not too much voltage for the Log Dump Car, I hope; the button is only pressed momentarily.
Don't hold the button down for an extended period of time, especially with 18 VAC feeding it, maybe more that 10 secs at a time max, without first letting it cool down in-between button-pushes.
The electromagnet inside the car will quickly get warm, and then hot, otherwise.
