Hello,
I have recently run into an issue. I have a NS Heritage caboose that is derailing about 50% of the time when traveling through switch tracks. It does not matter if the track is straight or switched. Upon investigation. It seems like there is too much play in the trucks. I am not positive, but it looks like gray, circular pieces on the outside of the truck that that helps to cover the tip of the axel has come loose an allows the axel to move back and forth enough to cause derailing. Out of the 8 little circular pieces that I think should be fixed in position, 7 have come loose and allow the axel to move back a forth. I was trying to locate replacement trucks for this caboose and was not successful. I was able to find the caboose here. But this link does not include a parts list breakdown. Does anyone know what a comparable replacement truck would be for this caboose? It is lit and also has smoke. I was thinking I would superglue these loose pieces back on the truck. After reading about zinc rot, I suspect that may be the underlying cause and gluing may not work well if at all.
