I need to know if I could get enough money selling the Fastrack I have to pay for all new Atlas O since I like the look and the operation of it over the Fastrack. I like the Fastrack but I would like the Atlas O over it. It's just I have a good amount of money in the Fastrack... And I'd need to sell ALL of it to afford Atlas O.

Well first check out Ebay and see what the general value of fastrack is going now. Thentry out some pieces of Fastrack to sell.

also keep in mind that buying USED atlas O is not too much of a gamble since atlas O is :

  • solid Nickel Silver rail which doesn't rust and
  • easily repaired if a spike or two broke off

A repair tutorial is on this forum. you would have to search for it. The best part about buying used atlas O track is most of the sections one gets"used" is like new anyway at 50%+ off!

NOW Switches are a different animal. IF you are not comfortable in tinkering around, buy NEW Atlas O switches. Good Luck!

Let me know if you do it this way, I would be an interested bidder(but I won't bid MSRP!).

Rob makes a good point (he'd bid..), but if you come up with a price, you can offer it here first, on the for sale forum. You would save the ebay fees. Not sure what they are. Just a thought

LLVan99,

With the way the market is today I can't see it being done, no matter which track you want to re-engineer with, even if you purchase used and sell the track you own now, depend on adding some additional money to the purchase.  I got to admit I like the Atlas O myself and I am considering running both my FasTrack and the Atlas O together.  I need to take a further look at transitioning in an out of my Lionel 711

and 072 switches with the Atlas O track however.  I will not get rid of my FasTrack, it operates way to well, especially with my Tin Plate trains.
